Live Frame · Last updated August 31, 2026

Your photos never leave your iPhone. Live Frame has no accounts, no ad networks and no tracking. The little data that does leave the device is listed below — completely.

Your photos stay on your device

Live Frame copies downsized versions of the album you select into the app's own storage on your iPhone. That local copy is the only source the Lock Screen frame and the widgets read from. No photo, album name, caption or filename is ever uploaded anywhere.

Location — only for the weather card

If you turn the weather card on, Live Frame asks for location access (“While Using the App”) and passes your approximate location to Apple’s WeatherKit service to fetch local conditions, and to Apple’s geocoder to show a place name. Your coordinates are used for these requests and are not stored on our servers. If you decline, the weather card simply stays empty — everything else works. Weather data is provided by  Weather.

Push service — an anonymous ID, never content

Automatic photo rotation uses our push service. It stores an app-generated random identifier (a UUID that is created on your device and is not derived from you or your hardware), the rotation interval, the number of prepared photos and the push token Apple issues for the running frame. No photos and no photo metadata. These records exist so your frame can be updated while it runs; invalid tokens are removed automatically.

Alongside each registration the app also reports its plan (free or paid) and whether notifications are allowed on the device. We keep this per random UUID to understand how many frames can actually be updated by push — never tied to your name, email or Apple account, and never including the push token itself. Deletion works the same way as for the usage counts below.

Usage statistics — anonymous and optional

The app reports a handful of anonymous usage counts (for example “app opened”, “paywall shown”, “purchase completed”) to our own analytics backend, tied to the same random UUID — never to your name, email or Apple account, because the app doesn’t know any of those. You can turn this off in Settings inside the app.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel any time in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.

What we don't do

No accounts. No ads. No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. No cross-app tracking — the app never asks for tracking permission because there is nothing to track.

Deleting your data

Everything local disappears when you delete the app. To have the anonymous UUID and its usage counts removed from our servers, email us — include the device ID shown in the app’s settings if available, since we have no other way to find your records.
